Orchard and Fruit Tree Pruning

Apple Orchard

Fruit trees are a great addition to any garden, often planted for their more compact size and ornamental value as well as autumn harvest.  Apples, Pears, Cherries and Plums are the fruit trees we most regularly work on, Quince, Medlar, Mulberry, Fig, Apricot, Peach, Kiwi and Grapevines are a other fruits we prune during the year.

At William Wolf Tree Surgery we understand the different pruning techniques required for each fruit type, we are able to formative prune newly planted trees to establish a good long term framework.  We are able to prune to promote fruit bud formation, we are able to thin, spur prune and carry out restoritive pruning on overgrown trees.

Orchards are a very distinct and attractive element of our managed landscape, particularly in parts of the West Country. We have restored and rejuvinatede a number of neglected small and large orchards over the years.

Selecting the right rootstock is a key part to growing the right sized fruit tree, we are able to help with selection, planning orchard layout, planting and establishment.
